Ross and Alice met in 1977 and married in 1978. They lived in CA for about 15 years, traveling extensively on the West Coast. They moved to Michigan in 1992, and then to North Carolina in 1994. Their two children, Michelle and April attended college here and they enjoyed visiting them and going to their football/basketball and school activities.
They enjoy traveling, site seeing, boating activities on Lake Norman near their home, and enjoying time together with family and friends. Ross enjoys teaching Sunday School, gardening, and jet skiing on the lake when possible. Alice enjoys jet skiing, boating, gardening, crafts, reading, walking to the lake, and her book club.

Steve and Jane Gantt are the parents of the groom, John Arthur Gantt. Both were born in NC and live in Morganton, NC. Steve's life work has been in the furniture industry, as a draftsman and designer. He is current member of the American Society of Furniture Designers and works for a freelance design firm. Steve has a variety of interesting hobbies, the latest one being astronomy. He enjoys cooking, Sudoko, and biking. Past interests include sailing, rock climbing and autocross racing. Over the years, he has worked on Habitat work crews. Jane is a social worker in a long term care facility. She finds it rewarding to help people deal with end of life issues.  Jane loves working outside, landscaping and planting a vegetable garden. Yoga is her favorite form of exercise, along with walking, hiking and biking.  She has a wide diverse group of friends. Steve and Jane belong to two dinner clubs and one dance club. They are active in their church. They enjoy traveling, eating in fine restaurants and visits with their children and grandchildren. They are looking forward to the marriage of their son, Paul in October 2007 and John and Michelle's wedding in March 2008.
